The Royal Mint has announced that there will be a 2018 Sir Isaac Newton 50p coin, however, these won’t be released into general circulation. You will have to take a trip to the Royal Mint in order to strike your own. Well, I guess that’s now one plan I have for the year. Anybody visiting The Mint will get to strike a 2018 Sir Isaac Newton 50p coin but this will only be for a short period of time and subject to availability. This will make it the only way to get your hands on the coin.
Currently, the 2009 Kew Gardens 50p coin is the rarest and most valuable. But with this one only being available to visitors to the royal mint it could well become the rarest and easily most valuable coin.
2017 the 2nd lowest minted 50p
So the current 2017 coin is the 2nd lowest minted 50p and one of only 2 under 2 million minted. That is great news if you have one I can see the value of these coins rising as we move further into 2018. Are you lucky enough to have one let me know?
Will I go to the Mint to get one of these coins? Yes, hopefully, I really love this design. I am looking at taking a trip Easter weekend with the kids and I hope they are still striking them at that point. This could well become my favorite coin. I do love it but I am also a little bit in love with the Beatrix Potter Coin.
