People.io have let users down.
People.io and why they have disappointed many!
So People.io was a great mobile app. It gave you simple surveys and easy to answer questions. By simply agreeing or disagreeing with a question would earn you a point. Once you had collected 1500 points bang you earned a tenner voucher. Sounds great and it was a really good app that I used regularly. But now its all changed after a long period of Uncertainty from them and let me tell you why.
What happened and why?
Well, truth be told no one knows. They suddenly removed the marketplace (where you buy the vouchers) and it was down for about 6 months. We would get regular videos sent through the app from Pete (who seems a nice bloke) although every message was the same just told slightly differently. “We are working on the app” “The marketplace is going through an upgrade” and so on. Now Pete seems nice and pleasant but really gave us nothing and this went on for 6 months or so. Still having questions come through and still collecting data.
But during this process, I got fed up of giving over my data when I was seemingly going to get nothing at all back from it. I decided to wait. Still watching the update videos, still being told we are working on the app. Now 6 months down the line the App is back functioning kinda.
So why have they let people down?
Well as I just said they have now opened the marketplace again which is great. But the bad news is that it now costs 5500 points or thereabouts for a £10 voucher. So 500 points shy of 4x increase in cost and worst of all its now full of well “CRAP” yup I said it “CRAP”. Here are some examples
So I can answer 400 questions and get a signed photo of Pete some random guy from the office. 500 points for some beer mats at 100 points each. a Data marshal Hi-Vis vest for 3000 points.
I mean there is silly and then there is very silly this is an example of the latter.
The marketplace also makes very little sense.
I can get a £10 voucher for footlocker for 3 different prices 4500 5000 and 5500 really why the 3 prices. Or I could get an iPhone X for 30000 credits. So if a footlocker voucher is say 5000 credits for a tenner is the iPhone really worth £60 again a likely mistake on the part of People.io to which I would doubt anyone would actually get this. Or you probably can but it would be a contract which you have to pay for. This is the only way I can figure it out. They seem to be trying to be comical with crap gifts and then insulting with a iphone for £60 taking people for mugs is a sure fire way of losing customers not keeping them happy.
What do People.io need to do.
They need to stop with the pointless messages.
They need to address the issues directly and quickly (very quickly)
This in simple is the main 2 areas they need to look at. Plus it would be nice to have a good idea of why they were still collecting data from users when no one could get anything back from this. It is in a sense theft of data.
Sort it out People.io and Pete please…
